Notable Notables

Marie got her Hib shot today. She cried for two minutes so loud that everyone seemed really alarmed. Maybe I didn't notice the other kids crying, but man Marie sure made herself known. I could hear people commenting on her scretches as we walked out, so I guess other people noticed. Then I changed her diaper and she started laughing. Maybe she thinks it's funny I had to change her diaper after I put her through so much pain. Naw, she's too nice. Getting this shot was not as bad as last time.
These pictures are from Halloween. I know, I'm a freak about Halloween.
Ok, I have a question for anyone that can answer it. I will send you a candy bar if you solve my problem. We live in an apartment where there is a slight space under our front door. Spiders have been coming in that way all Summer and now cold air is our newest guest. If you can tell me a way that I can fix this you will win. I saw a commercial on tv for some sort of contraption to fix this, but I forgot the number and what it's called.

It's official, Proposition 8 passed- Good job California! And just in case you've been living under a rock for the last 6 months, Obama is our new President. First African American is pretty darn notable. Though maybe I don't like his politics (I don't like most peoples) I will officially get behind him and not be Debbie Downer. Officially will stop talking about politics on this blog until the Prophet tells me to blog about it again. Who knew the Prophet would ask me to blog?

Just fill up the empty space under your door with duct tape. You can just bring the candy bar next time you're in Utah if that's the most convenient.

Actually Rachel if you want a more pleasing idea. . .They actually make bean bag looking things that are draft protectors. Usually like a cat with it's tail going the length of the door opening. I think they are filled with rice or beans. . .You could either make one or I know I saw one somewhere recently, I just can't remember where. . .Craft store maybe? Hope that helps!

We have the same problem. Our entryway gets down to 45 degrees in the winter! Try weather stripping or just throw a towel down while your at home. It's ghetto I know, but it's worked for us!

My friend in Moscow used bean bag, but it wasn't decorative. It stretched the span of the door and ha beans to weight it down and 'stuffing'--fiber fill--to poof it up to do it's job.

We just roll up a towel or blanket and put it in front of our door. Kind of ghetto but free!

I feel your pain on the shots. I HATE when the kids have to get shots. I have to go next week and I'm not looking forward to it!

Here's what you do: buy a pair of funky colored girls' tights (they're like 3 bucks at Target) - or plain ones if you're boring. Cut one leg off, fill it with rice, beans, or poly-fill, or some combination of the three, stitch or tie the end shut, attach googly eyes to the toe end, and there you have it, a fun, cheap, easy draft/spider stopper snake thingy*

*Not guaranteed against spiders

Shove candy bars under the space. Of course, one of them is now mine. So you'll need to buy an extra one. But they should fit nicely. Nougat is an excellent insulator.

This is what I've seen. I have never used one but seems like it would work. I like how it moves with the door so you aren't always repositioning it. Check it out.

You will probably have to copy and paste it into a new window.

I too hate shot day. Babies cry like you almost never hear them cry on that day. So sad.

Rachel,
I don't doubt that all of those solutions would work just fine (though I'll fly down there and fix it before I'll see you waste nougaty goodness as an inulator!), but here's my preference. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100159761
Just make sure you screw it into the bottom of the door low enough to "squeegy" the the threshhold. Also, trim the metal to length with a pair of tin snips, but leave the vinyl wider (as shown in the picture) so that any and all gapsalong the edges are covered.
My new favorite candy bar is the Rockin' Nut Road Snickers. Mmmmmm mashmallowy nougaty gooooooodness.

Jeff and I had the same problem, we did exactly what Zack said and went to Home Depot and bought one of the actual "things" that are made for just such a problem. If you go and explain to an associate what your problem is, they can show you exactly what you need. Then you can just put it on yourself. If I remember right, it wasn't expensive and Jeff just put it on himself.

I was so thrilled to see the pics of Marie in her blessing dress. She is just beautiful!! Who took the pictures? You have such good taste on the material you picked out that even I couldn't screw it up. Can't wait to see you and Marie
