Some of you may have heard me on my high horse (say that 5 times fast) as I said I would not get a car. Well... turns out I would be pretty bored without one, so for a small chunk of change I got this sweet mommy mobile. I think it says "I'm a family girl, but I also like to ski." Hopefully we can take up skiing next year. It's supposed to be close and cheap. Maybe they even pay us to ski, I can't remember.
Some people may be disappointed in our downsize housewise. But for the record I would like to state that we were given the option of a 3-bed 2-bath apartment... in a huge tower. Despite the need for extra room I just couldn't do it. The lighting was bad, and it reminded me of a Stephen King novel. I'm shallow. I know. But our place is brand new and so far we are really really happy in our small space. In fact we have yet to receive our belongings and are living off loner furniture. It is AWESOME. There is no mess, nothing to clean up, no clutter. It makes me so happy to have nothing (besides this computer though).

I need to blog about this because just recently did our Air Base change their housing rules. Just a few months ago we would have had the option of living off base and they would have paid for it. A big huge American house. But, seeing as no one was living on base they changed the rules. Now every other day we get someone telling us how unlucky we are. And how they just can't believe how horrible it is that we will have two kids and live in a 2-bedroom apartment. To them I say “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say let your affairs be as one, two, three and to a hundred or a thousand. We are happy in proportion to the things we can do without.” - Henry David Thoreau
Just kidding, I just get way annoyed and complain about them later to Brett.
But enjoy these other wonderful quotes:
“He who is contented is rich.” - Lao Tzu
“One can furnish a room very luxuriously by taking out furniture rather than putting it in.” - Francis Jourdain
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” - William Morris
“We ascribe beauty to that which is simple; which has no superfluous parts; which exactly answers its end.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
“… in all the things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.” - Will Rogers
“If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things, then this is the best season of your life.” - Wu-Men
“Eliminate physical clutter. More importantly, eliminate spiritual clutter.” - D.H. Mondfleur

With all the quotes it sounds like you're trying to convince yourself that you like simplicity. ...I'm just sayin'.
I like the new mom-mobile. What kind is it? It looks kind of like ours.
Marie walking around with nothing on but a diaper and yellow rain boots... So cute!
Good quotes. Makes me want to declutter my basement.
Your place looks nice! I love Marie's outfit! She is too cute!!! Man I miss her sweet little face :(
"Maybe they even pay us to ski, I can't remember."
That was better than any of those other quotes you listed.
When we lived in Houston for 2 years, we decided to unpack as little as possible and just put it all away in storage. I was surprised by how much we did without...and also surprised by how fast we filled that empty space with more crap! Ugh. Well, hopefully you won't do the same.
Rachel, really you are living my life. So funny. The towers creeped me out too. C. thought they were nice and I was like heeeeck no. We have to get together in Tokyo someday OK.
